Our Story

1. INTRODUCTION

Elangeni Lodge is located in the natural bushveld environment of the Mpumalanga Province, under the Nkomazi District Municipality. We are on the outskirts of Malelane which is 25km away from the Kruger National Park. We have a fully licensed bar and restaurant which provides a la carte meals and a wide range of African dishes which will definitely keep you coming back for more. This property is abundant with indigenous birdlife and beautifully landscaped gardens offering a haven of tranquility. The deck and the large modern swimming pool make it a perfect place to relax and un-wind in the Lowveld.

2. ABOUT US

“Elangeni” is a Swazi word meaning “The sun”. This is exactly what you will enjoy when you visit Elangeni Lodge, which is situated in the Nkomazi area of Mpumalanga. Nkomazi forms the eastern section of the Lowveld area of the Mpumalanga Province. The municipality is located approximately 350km east of Gauteng, and consists of a wedge of land between the Kruger National Park (north), Mozambique (east), Swaziland (south) and Mbombela and Umjindi Municipal areas (west). Elangeni Lodge is situated in the heart of Nkomazi Municipality in an area known KaMhlushwa. Elangeni Lodge is adopting the Nkomazi Municipality plans, to which it intends to push back the frontiers of poverty and indeed to accelerate the better life for all. Every design of the lodge is crafted from locally available material, with wood being the dominant feature of the interior décor. The Maputo Corridor traverses Nkomazi and has a significant influence on the growth and development of the area, which was previously extremely marginalized. The location of the lodge is within the natural environment, uninterrupted by residential development. The architecture of Elangeni Lodge blends with the environment and encourages guests to feel as one with nature. Elangeni lodge creates a pleasant atmosphere for nature lovers, which will give you a different experience with a strong African appeal, greatly influenced by the Swazi culture. Elangeni Lodge is owned by a dynamic and versatile couple, Mr. Christian Bhiya and Ms. Phelelile Shongwe, respectively, who have many times traversed the route to venture creation; from conceptualization, implementation to monitoring and expansion. Christian and Phelelile co-own a number of other successful businesses.

3. ACTIVITIES

Elangeni Lodge offers a wide range of services and activities to its guests. A summary of the services include:-

  • Conferencing facilities are available and we can cater for groups of up to 400 delegates.
  • Weddings – spend the most important day of your life- your wedding, with us at Elangeni Lodge. At Elangeni we help you with your planning for your dream wedding.
  •  Entertainment shows by the Swazi dancers and other cultural groups.
  • Tours – are arranged locally in the Mpumalanga province, day trips can also be arranged to Swaziland and Mozambique.
  • Safari drives into the Kruger National Park which can be organized for the day or night, depending on your preference.
